about

I just couldn’t resist giving this classic dub track from the 80’s a rework, giving it a more up to date hip hop vibe.

The track was originally written by Norman Cook (aka Fatboy Slim) with Lindy Layton on vocals, with the original vocal adapted from The SOS Band's "Just Be Good to Me".

The track also features the distinctive vocals of David John-Baptiste, more commonly known as DJ Deejay or just DJ. The opening and closing line "tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty you're listening to the boy from the big bad city, this is jam hot, this is jam hot" was from Johnny Dynell's 1983 hit "Jam Hot".

I’ve stripped away all the original bass line samples taken from The Clash's "Guns of Brixton", and instrumentation, and replaced this with looped hip hop breaks and strings. To give it a full hip hop rework I've added Snoop Dogg vocals to the mix for the outro.
